My sentiments chime with yours exactly, and this is exactly how I perceive Obama. Politics is the art of compromise and Obama knows and has almost admitted as much. Martin Luther King, by way of contrast, said that he would choose truth and justice above popularity, and could never have been elected as President with the views he held. To what extent Obama is knowingly compromising truth and objectivity for the sake of popularity, I'm not quite sure. I find it difficult to believe that he really believes that the problems in the Middle East are not the fault of Israel but of "hateful Islam." Does he really think that? Still, I agree with you that it's up to us to create a different political climate in which he is able to pursue a more progressive agenda. I'm really pleased to have found this site and I think I'll be visiting it often and expressing my appreciation whenever I get the chance. Hey Michael,
