The Metta Center for Nonviolence Education serves as a resource for communities around the world who wish to deal with violence in their culture using the integrative power of nonviolence. We believe in a paradigm shift capable of transforming our culture from fear and violence, toward nonviolence, peace, justice and healing in our relationships, communities and society as a whole. Through our partners and programs, we provide resources in the theory and practice of nonviolence, inspiring examples of how nonviolence is being used every day, and opportunities for participants to apply nonviolence in their own lives. As people become motivated and inspired to explore the power and possibility of an alternative to violence, the Metta Center provides educational resources, guidance and support to introduce and deepen their understanding of nonviolence.

Metta Center offers a range of resources and services, falling into three programmatic areas (also see a list of upcoming events):

1. Educational Resources: Variety of published, online, and conference resources focused on deepening understanding of nonviolence and its potential applications.

2. Support for Change Makers:
Programs that support the integration of nonviolence principles into efforts to build a just and peaceful society.

3. Community Involvement:

In our efforts to address societal needs, the Metta Center believes that adopting a nonviolence approach enables us to unite the ends of peace and justice with the means by which to pursue them. The experiments of Gandhi and many others have shown that ordinary individuals can use nonviolent means to counteract violence in all its forms–physical, emotional, spiritual and structural. In all our work, we seek to fully engage principled nonviolence in our thoughts, words and actions.
