Mightier than the Atomic Bomb: Your Power to Create a World without Nuclear Weapons
Gandhi said nonviolence is the only thing the atom bomb cannot destroy. Eighty years since their first use, the world has over 12,000 nuclear weapons that are much more powerful than the ones used in 1945. It is said the threat of the use of nuclear weapons is highest since the cold war, while some countries are exploring whether they should develop their own nuclear capabilities.
This free, virtual workshop, presented by Mohamed Ambrosini, Anna Ikeda and Hayley Ramsay-Jones of Soka Gakkai International, will explore the connection between nonviolence and nuclear disarmament. In particular, we will explore how violence contributes to the public acceptance of nuclear weapons as a viable security system, and how we can have courageous dialogue about the topic with those around us. This workshop is open to anyone with interest in the topic; no prior knowledge required!
