Courage and nonviolence are inseparable. In this book, Ela shares a story about her Grandfather, Mahatma Gandhi, and how he realized, through his fear of snakes, that fear is in the mind. We can transform our fear into courage and nonviolent action.

Ela Gandhi is a social worker and political activist in South Africa. She was a founding member of the Natal Organization of Women and served two terms in the South African Parliament representing the African National Congress (ANC). She is the Honorary Chairperson of the Gandhi Development Trust and Phoenix Settlement Trust, and Co-President of Religions for Peace International. She is also a beloved member of the Metta Center for Nonviolence’s board of directors.

She is “Mahatma” Gandhi’s granddaughter.
