A Eucharist of Gospel Nonviolence

There is a concerted effort in the Catholic community to help re-establish the nonviolence of Jesus as foundational to their faith in Christ. The long-hoped-for short-term goal is to have the backing of Pope Francis in this endeavor with an encyclical on nonviolence, which could help the content about the nonviolence of Jesus move into Masses and prayer practices around the world. Toward these goals, on January 1, 2022, the Association of U.S. Catholic Priests’ Working Group on Gospel Nonviolence beautifully crafted and proposed a nonviolent Eucharist (though it has not yet received formal backing from the Church. This document includes the Eucharist as well as their rationale for the project. They ask to please read, study, and use this content, and to please help spread the word.
